Ever heard of Charles Wallace? Me neither. But If you've ever heard the nickname "Moose", you know who they were talking about.... Mike Muise. But we aren't talking about him today, we are talking about Padres pitcher Charles "Moose" Wallace who took the mound and closed the door on the Red Sox Monday night with a 12-10 victory; their first of the year. Not only did Moose play cornhole with the back of home plate like a champ, he also powered his offense with a a two-run dinger in the first to cap off an 8 run first inning. Things got going early when David Cusson (2-3, 3 R) hit a single, setting up a two-run shot to Neverland from Chris "The Mountain Man" Bickford, his first of the season. And why hit one home run, when you can follow it up with a solo shot, right Steve Palleschi? The very next batter, 3B Steve "2Tall" Palleschi (2-4, HR (2), 2 RBI (4)) drilled a Mike Mowatt hanging fastball over fence and into where the Wild Things Are. The Padres used up all 3 homers in the first, but that would be all they would need because they never looked back.
For the Red Sox, they were led by pitcher Mike "Mohawk/Mojave/Mo Vaughn/Mona Lisa/Mojo/Mo-Money" Mowatt who tried helping his own cause by going 2-3 with 2 RBI (7), Sean Holbrook (2-3, RBI), and Price "Is Right" Gendron (2-3, 2 RBI). The Red Sox put up 4 in the first and were only able to snag a run or two in each of the remaining innings, and fell just short of their 2nd win of the season. Both teams, now (1-1) will play their first inner-league games next Thursday, with the Red Sox taking on the Rockies (1-0), and the Padres facing the Phillies (1-0
